About Me
Hello, my name is Scott Knox. I've been hiking and exploring East Tennessee since the early 80's. My mom and dad grew up back in the 50's in the little country town of Niota, Tennessee, where still to this day the population is only about 850. I was born just up the road in Sweetwater. Soon after I turned two, Dad landed a job south of Atlanta at the Ford Motor Plant. Our home became East Point, Georgia, population . . . in the tens of thousands. Growing up, we returned to Niota during the summer months to visit my grandparents. I loved coming to the country, and some of my favorite memories are of my Granny ( Willie Dakota Stanley Knox) asking Papaw Chuck to drive us around to see old barns. In fact, I loved the country so much that after turning eighteen, East Tennessee became my home and photography became my hobby. I've looked up some of the old barns that I remember, and sadly, several of them no longer exist. On this site are some of the ones that I've successfully rediscovered and captured. The work shown here expresses my great appreciation and love for the beauty and serenity of my chosen mountain paradise. From winding country roads and vanishing barns to tranquil waterfalls, the images capture and reflect the magic I experienced as a youth, now seen through the lens. I hope you enjoy them and see the magic, too. We absolutely love living in Monroe County and invite everyone to visit this beautiful area. It's also home to the Fort Loudon Historical Park, The Lost Sea Adventure, Tsali Notch Winery, the great Tellico River, Bald River Falls, the Cherohala Skyway, the Cherohala Visitors Center including the Charles Hall Museum. Don't forget about the Autumn Gold Festival in Coker Creek . You like eating and shopping ? Some of our favorite places to eat are Donna's Old Town Cafe, The Patio, Sol Azteca Mexican Grill, Smoke-N-Bonz BBQ, and Tellico Grains Bakery. Come see us at the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce for more information regarding all the great places you can visit here. Believe me when I say, "Theres More !!" Both here, as well as in our neighboring counties. Should you decide you would like your own barn photographed, I'm currently living in Madisonville, Tennessee. I can be reached through the contact sheet, or email - [email protected]
